GrowHouse Community Design + Development uses the linkages between travel and education, entrepreneurship and activism, art and technology to design safe, brave, dignified and flourishing communities that empower creators of color to think globally and act locally.

We envision a world where Black people are equipped with the knowledge, skills, and experiences to become visionary leaders who think globally and act locally to build equitable societies.

To make this vision a reality, we work across cultures, generations, disciplines, and continents to expand the perimeters of education outside of institutions and into the world through project-based learning and travel.

The BlackOUT is a comprehensive curriculum that engages and prepares community residents in historically Black neighborhoods to co-design and co-steward our community assets and wealth.

Principle: Spiral Education

Spiral Education starts with our individual experiences as a source of knowing. We create a pool of shared meaning, look for patterns, and only then, layer theory to refine and expand our knowing.

Principle: Facilitation

Building on the principle of Spiral Education, the role of a facilitator is to hold a brave space for knowledge to unfold and deepen in communion with others.

Principle: Anti-Oppression

We all have internalized oppression and our trainings + facilitations center the lived experiences of those who have been pushed to the margins through deep listening + accountability
